Frequently Asked Questions

  • During your first session, we will have an in-depth intake to discuss your health history, treatment goals, session goals, and to address any concerns before the hands-on work begins. Please note that the length of your massage session refers to hands-on time only; the intake portion is in addition to that time. Because of this, the overall appointment will run longer than the listed hands-on duration, so please plan your day accordingly.

I am always available for questions prior to the session if having those answers will help you arrive feeling comfortable, informed, and able to show up as your full self.

  • A trigger point is a small nodule that forms within the layers of the tissues. It can be painful when compressed and often refers a sensation (pain, numbness, tingling, burning) to another area of the body. It can also radiate locally. Physiologically, trigger points form when a muscle is not able to fully relax and an excess of calcium and other substances builds in an attempt to "restart" the muscle fibers. Some people refer to these as "knots" but sometimes "knots" are tense muscle areas without being trigger points.
